burnt in cartagena

i left santa marta and the pelting sand for cartagena. its a old spanish city centered around fortified castle built around 1563. it lies in stark contrast to the modern city that is growing up around it.

the city itself is much more caribbean than the other interior cities ive seen. its a mix of new orleans with the french/spanish balcony lined streets and a more ethnically diverse population of the caribes. with the influence of afro-caribbeans the city is louder and more chaotic then its inland neighbors.

which one is cartagena and which is new orleans?

i once was told "new orleans isnt the poorest city in the states, its the richest in the caribbean" very apropos
